Chennai, 17 January (H.S.) : In an exciting development for Tamil cinema fans, the re-release of Thalapathy Vijay's blockbuster film Theri has been officially scheduled for January 23.
The film's producer, Kalaippuli S Thanu, announced the new date after the initial Pongal re-release was postponed following requests from producers of new films during the festive race.
Interestingly, this release will coincide with the re-release of Ajith Kumar's cult classic Mankatha, creating a significant box-office clash between the two superstars.
This event is being hailed by enthusiasts as the final major cinematic face-off between Vijay and Ajith before Vijay transitions fully into his political career.
Theri, directed by Atlee, features Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Amy Jackson in lead roles, with a supporting cast including Radikaa Sarathkumar, Prabhu, and Mahendran. The film is well-remembered for its emotional narrative and the chart-topping musical score composed by GV Prakash Kumar.
On the other hand, Mankatha, directed by Venkat Prabhu, remains one of the most celebrated heist thrillers in Ajith's career. The film boasts an ensemble cast featuring Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, and Raai Laxmi.
Theatre owners and distributors are anticipating a massive turnout as fans prepare to celebrate their favorite stars on the big screen once again.
