Nagpur, 15 Jan

(HS): Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Prabhag 11, Bhushan Shingne, was

attacked with stones and arms on Wednesday night by anti-social elements,

allegedly Congress workers. Shingne had fracture in a hand and injury on face.

Three other workers with Shingne also received injuries.

Shingne had gone

to Gorewada area to verify that cash is being distributed among the voters.

BJP Nagpur Unit

President Dayashankar Tiwari said Shingne has been admitted to the Kingsway

Hospital and has received injuries on hand and leg. He was trying to help one

of his supporters who fell during the attack. His hand was injured when he

tried to defend himself.

Tiwari alleged

that the attackers were Congress workers, aimed to eliminate Shingne. The Chief

Minister was informed about the incident. Tiwari also requested the Police

Commissioner to take stern action against the culprits. He has appealed to the

voters to punish the Congress candidates by defeating them through votes.
