Kottayam, 14 Jan (H.S.):Kerala Congress (M) chairman Jose K. Mani has firmly rejected reports suggesting that his party is planning to exit the Left Democratic Front (LDF), calling such claims baseless and politically motivated.

Speaking to reporters in Kottayam, Jose K. Mani questioned who was driving such discussions and why Kerala Congress (M) was repeatedly being dragged into speculation. “Kerala Congress (M) has a clear and firm political position. There has been absolutely no change in that stand. We do not have to explain our position every single day,” he said, adding that there was no need for others to “shed tears” over his party’s future.

Responding to reports that Kerala Congress (M) had skipped recent LDF meetings, Jose K. Mani clarified that the claims were incorrect. He said a party leader had attended the LDF meeting concerned and dismissed suggestions of any deliberate absence.

Explaining his own non-participation in a recent LDF programme held in Thiruvananthapuram, Jose K. Mani said he was abroad at the time to visit a close friend of his father who was in critical condition. “The concerned senior leaders were informed in advance. Moreover, all five MLAs of Kerala Congress (M) were present at the programme,” he said.

Jose K. Mani acknowledged that the party continues to receive invitations and political feelers from various quarters, but said this only reflected its political relevance and strength on the ground. “When invitations come from different sides, it only shows that Kerala Congress (M) has strong influence. Wherever Kerala Congress (M) exists, governance follows—that has been made clear,” he remarked.

Reiterating the party’s stand, he said discussions about Kerala Congress (M) changing alliances had no relevance at all. “If someone expresses a desire for Kerala Congress (M) to join them, why should we be blamed for it? Doesn’t that itself show the strength of the party?” he asked.

Addressing reports of internal differences, Jose K. Mani said diversity of opinion was natural in any political party. “Which party does not have differing views? During discussions, multiple opinions emerge. These are then consolidated into a final party decision. There is no division within Kerala Congress (M). Once a decision is taken, all five MLAs stand united,” he asserted.

He also confirmed that he would continue as the captain of the LDF’s ongoing political jatha, though minor adjustments might be required due to Parliament sessions and the Budget, as the march spans several days.

Recalling the party’s political journey, Jose K. Mani said Kerala Congress (M) was expelled from the UDF five years ago, after which it took a firm decision to align with the Left. “We are satisfied within the LDF, and our stand remains unchanged,” he concluded.
