Dayanidhi Maran sparks row over Hindi only education and slavery remarks

Chennai, 14 January (H.S.) : Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Member of Parliament DAYANIDHI MARAN has triggered a major political controversy following his sharp remarks regarding Hindi only education in certain northern states.

Addressing a public gathering, the senior DMK leader alleged that students in these regions are being actively discouraged from learning English and are instead pushed to study only Hindi. He warned that such a restrictive educational approach would lead to poor employment prospects, eventually keeping the youth as slaves to a system that limits their global opportunities.

DAYANIDHI MARAN attributed the large scale migration of workers from northern India to southern states like Tamil Nadu to these educational disparities and the lack of professional skill development.

The Member of Parliament further claimed that the DRAVIDIAN MODEL of governance in Tamil Nadu has been successful because it promotes equal access to education and linguistic flexibility. He noted that top global corporations are investing in the state primarily due to the presence of an educated and English proficient workforce.

The BHARATIYA JANATA PARTY has strongly reacted to these comments, with leader THIRUPATHY NARAYANAN demanding an unconditional apology. The BJP accused the DMK leader of portraying Hindi speaking communities as uncivilized and lacking in common sense.

Meanwhile, DMK leader TKS ELANGOVAN defended the remarks, stating that the party has historically fought for empowerment and education, unlike the ruling parties in some northern states where women’s rights and educational progress remain stagnant.
