11 Jan (HS): Speaking to the media
at his residence in Deoria today, Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Surya
Pratap Shahi said that the agricultural sector will play a crucial role in
making the state a trillion-dollar economy. Therefore, agricultural schemes are
being expanded and their benefits are being extended to ordinary farmers, and
the direct impact is already visible.
He further stated that this
year, spring sugarcane has been sown on one lakh hectares. To promote summer
crops, sugarcane farmers will be provided with pulse and oilseed seeds,
enabling them to grow two crops in the same field. Seeds of other pulse crops,
including mung beans, will be made available to farmers in 45 districts of the
state. The government's goal is to make the state self-sufficient in pulse and
oilseed production.
ED's action in Bengal justified:
Responding to a question, he said that the ED's action in West Bengal is
justified and that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee should not obstruct the
investigation. He said that action by the CBI and ED against those involved in
corruption and scams is necessary. Referring to the Lalu Prasad Yadav case, he
said that those questioning corruption should first look within themselves.
Special
event in ancestral village Pakhan: Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi
announced that on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, a special event will be held
on January 14th at the Lord Chaturbhuj Ji shrine in his ancestral village
Pakhan in Deoria to promote social harmony. Coarse grains will be displayed and
blankets will be distributed to the needy.
