Guwahati, 11 January (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said that the long-felt need for a new campus of the Gauhati High Court would soon be fulfilled with the construction of a modern Judicial Township in North Guwahati.

The Chief Minister, in his social media message stated that the existing infrastructure was no longer sufficient to meet the growing requirements of the judicial system, making it necessary to develop a new, well-equipped campus capable of addressing present and future needs. The upcoming Judicial Township on the north bank of the Brahmaputra is expected to comprehensively cater to these requirements.

Dr Sarma, along with the Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant and other distinguished dignitaries, participated in the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Integrated Judicial Court Complex. The project will be constructed at an estimated cost of over ₹478 crore.

He described the township as a significant step towards strengthening judicial infrastructure in the state, adding that the new complex would be befitting the stature and legacy of the Gauhati High Court while incorporating all modern facilities required for efficient delivery of justice.----------
