
Bhubaneswar, 11 January (H.S.): Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Trauma Care Centre and a new Outpatient Department (OPD) building at the Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) during his two-day visit to the district, marking a significant step toward strengthening healthcare infrastructure in western Odisha.
The state government has invested ₹21.28 crore in the construction of the Trauma Care Centre and OPD building to provide immediate and specialised medical care to accident victims. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) building, developed at a cost of ₹2.53 crore, which will ensure modern, hygienic sterilisation of medical instruments and equipment.
Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Majhi said the increasing number of road accidents has made the establishment of Trauma Care Centres in every district a priority. He stressed that these centres are aimed at ensuring prompt, assured, and life-saving treatment for accident victims.
He said that within 13 days of assuming office, the government had held detailed discussions with the Health Department and decided to set up Trauma Care Centres in all government medical colleges, district headquarters hospitals, and major government healthcare facilities across Odisha. He added that steps are underway to establish 89 advanced Trauma Care Centres across the state to significantly reduce accident-related deaths and injuries while improving the quality and timeliness of emergency medical care.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure, the Chief Minister said the inauguration of the new OPD building at Sambalpur DHH represents another milestone in delivering modern and accessible healthcare services. He expressed confidence that the upgraded facilities would greatly benefit the people of Sambalpur district and surrounding areas.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra, former MLA Nauri Nayak, District Collector Siddheshwar Baliram Bondar, and other senior officials and dignitaries were present at the event.
