
Burdwan, 11 January (H.S.): A traveller vehicle carrying tourists from Kolkata to Tarapith met with an accident in the Ausgram area on Sunday morning. At least 30 people, including the driver, were injured in the accident. The incident occurred around 8 AM while the vehicle was ascending the Bheria flyover.
According to local sources, the traveller vehicle was travelling towards Bolpur on National Highway 114 (Bardhaman-Bolpur). It collided head-on with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction, causing the traveller vehicle to lose control and overturn.
The other vehicle had four passengers. People in both vehicles sustained injuries in the collision. Upon receiving the information, local residents and the police rushed to the spot and launched rescue and relief operations.
All the injured have been sent to Bolpur Sian Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment. According to hospital sources, the condition of both drivers is reported to be serious. Traffic in the area was disrupted for some time after the accident.
The police have started an investigation into the incident.
