Imphal, 11 January (HS): Security forces, during a series of coordinated operations in last 24 hours across Manipur, recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition and equipment from different districts and arrested two active militant cadres.

Officials said a search operation in the general area of Awlmun village under Kangchup Police Station in Kangpokpi district led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, several single and double barrel rifles, bolt action weapons, improvised mortars, hand grenades, live ammunition and other military-related items, including communication equipment and combat gear.

In a separate operation conducted the same day, security personnel recovered a single barrel rifle from the general areas of Siden and Changpikot villages under Churachandpur Police Station in Churachandpur district.

Meanwhile, a cadre of KYKL (SOREPA), identified as Elangbam Premchand Singh of Hi-yanglam Warakhong in Kakching district, was apprehended from the Athokpam Khunou area under Thoubal Police Station. A Honda Activa scooter and a mobile phone with SIM card were seized from his possession.

In another arrest, security forces detained a PREPAK cadre, Mayengbam Roshan Meitei alias Panganba (28), from Singjamei Ma-yengbam Leikai under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district. A mobile phone was recovered from him.
