Guwahati, 11 January (HS): The 70th Zonal Railway Week Awards Ceremony was held at Rang Bhawan, Maligaon, on January 10 in the presence of Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). Principal Heads of Departments and senior officers from NFR Headquarters attended the programme and congratulated the award recipients for their dedication and exemplary performance.

Officers and staff from various departments of the five divisions and Headquarters of NFR were conferred with the prestigious Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar (VRSP), 2025, in recognition of their outstanding service, professional excellence and significant contributions towards improving efficiency, safety and passenger services. A total of 49 awardees were honoured across diverse functional areas.

The recipients included two awardees each from the General Administration, Commercial, Medical and Signal & Telecommunication Departments, and one awardee each from the Personnel, Safety, Security and Stores Departments. These officials were recognised for their effective administrative support, customer-oriented services, healthcare delivery, technical expertise, and efforts to strengthen safety and operational systems of the Railways.

Additionally, seven awardees each from the Electrical and Operating Departments, eight from the Mechanical Department, and the highest number—15 awardees—from the Civil Engineering Department received the honour. Their contributions in traction and locomotive operations, train operations and traffic management, rolling stock maintenance, workshops and coaching depots, track maintenance, and infrastructure development have played a vital role in enhancing the overall performance and reliability of NFR.

Coaching Depot Kamakhya was also honoured with the Best Coaching Depot Award for 2025 under the Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar, in recognition of its outstanding performance and excellence in coaching maintenance and services.

Addressing the gathering, the General Manager and senior officials lauded the awardees for their professionalism, teamwork and sustained efforts in enhancing safety, punctuality and passenger satisfaction across Northeast Frontier Railway, while reaffirming NFR’s commitment to recognising merit and encouraging excellence among its workforce.----------
