Lucknow, 04 Aug
(HS): In reaction to
the prevailing bad weather conditions typified by heavy rains, officials in
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, announced the closure of all government and private
schools for grades 1–12 on Monday. The announcement was delivered by District
Magistrate Visakh G. Iyer, who cited the unrelenting precipitation that has
affected various areas.
Residents in Ayodhya's Jalwanpura neighborhood saw knee-deep flooding as the
Saryu River spilled as a result of heavy downpours. Meanwhile, torrential rains
drenched various sections of Varanasi, forcing the river Ganga's water level to
climb steadily since Saturday. As a precaution, all Ganga boats have been
temporarily forbidden. Despite these difficulties, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath has despatched ministers to monitor relief activities in 12
affected districts.
He emphasized the
significance of fast and high-quality relief actions, while requiring senior
authorities to monitor the situation around the clock. The administration reiterated its commitment
to assisting all impacted citizens by safeguarding their safety and
wellbeing. The Indian Meteorological
Department predicts isolated heavy rainfall over the state from August 3 to 6.
