(HS): According to

authorities, two small children were killed and their grandpa was gravely

injured when the wall of their house fell amid rain in Khairen Deshnagar

village on Monday morning. Since Sunday, the district has been hit by heavy

rainfall. Rampal (60) was sleeping inside the house with his two

granddaughters, Chandni (14) and Shivasi (12), when the tragedy occurred,

burying them under rubble, according to authorities.

Locals grabbed all three

from the wreckage and took them to the Community Health Centre (CHC), where

medics pronounced the two girls dead. Rampal is being treated and is considered

to be critically ill, but not in danger. The deceased's remains were

transported for postmortem examination. Villagers have called for compensation

for the grieving family. District authorities paid a visit to the location and

indicated that they would provide all necessary support. Efforts are ongoing to assess the damage and

give help in accordance with official guidelines.
