Doda, 4 August (H.S.): The first batch of annual Manimahesh Yatra with holy Mace (Chharri Mubarak) left Bhaderwah today for onward journey to the holy shrine of Manimahesh in Bharmour district of Himachal Pradesh.

The Chharri Yatra commenced from Lakshmi Narayan Temple situated at Mandir Bazaar Bhaderwah, where since morning devotees started assembling and after lunch they proceeded towards Manimahesh.

A group of about 200 devotees left Lakshmi Narayan Temple to Bheja village where they will stay for a night and then will proceed further towards the holy shrine in HP.

However, another group of pilgrims will leave on Nag Panchami in buses.

The pilgrims were flagged off by the administration and people from all walks of life who prayed for the smooth pilgrimage.

Adequate security arrangements and other facilities were made in advance by the administration for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the pilgrimage.

Free Langers were established by the devotees en-route the shrine of Manimahesh.

Manimahesh Lake situated at the Himalayas, is a high altitude lake and the Manimahesh Kailash peak stands high close to the lake is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. This place is believed to be second to the Mansarovar Lake in its religious significance.

During the annual pilgrimage in August-September, numerous night-shelters and eateries have come up along the trekking route.
