South 24 Parganas, 3 August (H.S.): A 36-year-old man was killed in a family dispute over house building in Jamalpur area under Bajbaj police station in South 24 Parganas district on Sunday morning. The deceased has been identified as Debashish Khan. The police have arrested the deceased's uncle Manik Khan and his son in connection with the murder.
According to family sources, Debashish and his uncle Manik Khan used to live together in the same house earlier. Due to lack of space, Debashish had applied for a house under Bangla Awas Yojana, which was also approved. After that, construction of the house started on the land next to the uncle's house. Since then there was tension between the two families.
On Saturday, the work of casting the roof of the new house was going on. Some part of the roof came towards the uncle's part, to which the uncle and his family objected. A fierce fight broke out between the two sides over this.
The quarrel escalated to such an extent that it led to physical violence. Allegedly the uncle Manik Khan along with his son attacked Debashish, which led to his death.
The police have sent the body for postmortem and have started investigating the case. The accused uncle and his son have been arrested.
