Two and half year old girl dies after mud wall collapses in Bankura


Bankura, 3 August (H.S.): A two and half year old girl died after being buried under a mud wall in Birsingh village under Patrasayar police station area of Bankura district on Sunday. On Sunday morning, when the girl was playing in the courtyard of the house, the mud wall suddenly collapsed on her. The name of the deceased was Kiran Lohar.

Vishwanath Lohar, who earns his living by working as a labourer in Dangapada area of Birsingh village, lives with his family in a kutcha house, which had an asbestos roof. It has been raining continuously in Bankura for the past few days, due to which the walls of the house had become very wet and weak. Kiran, the younger of Vishwanath's two daughters, was playing in the courtyard of the house that morning, when suddenly a wall collapsed and she was buried under the debris.

The family immediately removed the soil and took the girl out and took her to Patrasair Block Primary Health Center, but the doctors declared the girl dead.

On information, Vishnupur Organizational District Trinamool Congress President Subrata Dutta reached the hospital and met the victim's family. The administration has assured the victim's family of an assistance amount of two lakh rupees. At the same time, Trinamool's All India General Secretary and Diamond Harbor MP Abhishek Banerjee has also promised to give additional assistance of three lakh rupees.

The police have sent the girl's body for postmortem. Further investigation continues.
