(HS):A joint police

team of Kotwali police and SOG of Banda district in Uttar Pradesh arrested two

criminals during an encounter on Sunday morning. Both the miscreants were shot

in the leg. They are accused of raping a student. Additional Superintendent of

Police Yuvraj said that the arrested accused have been identified as Kallu

alias Manoj Yadav resident of Mawai, Kotwali Nagar police station and Anil

Verma son of Jaikaran resident of Baberu police station. Two illegal pistols,

two live cartridges, three empty cartridges and the CNG auto used in the

incident have been recovered from them.

ASP said that the

incident happened on August 2. The student was going to her home in an auto

late in the evening. The auto driver and another person sitting in it took her

to a deserted place on some pretext and raped her. The victim's father informed

the police station late at night. After this, the police showed immediate

promptness and started action by registering an FIR.

In the encounter, both the

criminals were shot in their legs and were arrested. Both the injured accused

have been admitted to the district hospital for treatment, where their

condition is stable.
