Baksa (Assam), 03 August (HS): A man was killed after being attacked by a wild elephant in Lavdanguri village, located within the Manah National Park area of Baxa district on Sunday morning.

The victim, identified as Naveen Nath, was working in his field when two wild elephants entered the area and attacked him. He killed on the spot.

Following the incident, forest officials along with SSB personnel rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control. However, local residents expressed strong dissatisfaction, citing the increasing frequency of such incidents and alleging inaction on the part of the forest department.

They complained that wild animals often stray into human habitations, but authorities have failed to implement effective measures to prevent such tragedies.
