Sunday, the water level of the Ganga river in Varanasi reached 71.60 meters breaching
danger mark of 71.26 meters. According to the information received from the
Flood Management Information System Center, the water level of the Ganga may
reach its maximum height in the next 24 hours. In Varanasi, the highest water
level of the Ganga was found to be 73.90 meters in 1978.

on Assi road: Due to the rising water level of Ganga in Varanasi, the Assi Ghat
to Assi Chauraha road is completely affected. Local people are also facing
difficulty in leaving their homes and going to the market. Assi resident Dr.
Vandana said that due to the water of Ganga river reaching the road, it is very
difficult to take out the vehicles. Drivers bringing and dropping school
children have faced a lot of difficulty. Regarding this, an appeal has been
made to the district administration to activate the management team in this
area.
Water crisis in
the streets around Dashashwamedh Ghat: Ganga water has started flowing in the
streets around Dashashwamedh Ghat, so people are facing difficulties in coming
out of their houses. Shopkeepers are forced to close their shops in these
streets. Water has also entered the houses built towards the ghat in the
street.
