Jalaun, 03 Aug

(HS): The Uttar Pradesh

government is fully active to deal with natural disasters like floods and

provide immediate relief to the affected. On the instructions of Chief Minister

Yogi Adityanath, the administrative machinery and teams of ministers are

continuously engaged in relief and rescue operations in the affected areas on

Sunday. In this sequence, the state's Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh

conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Jalaun district and

distributed relief material among the victims.

Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh

first conducted an aerial inspection of the flood-affected areas of Jalaun and

Kalpi tehsils, where the rising water level of Yamuna, Pahuj and Sindh rivers

caused waterlogging in many villages. After this, he reached Bhitora and

Kanjwasa villages of Rampura development block, where he distributed relief

kits to 180 flood-affected families. These kits included essential items like

rice, flour, pulses, potatoes, oil, salt, spices, biscuits, lye, soap, sanitary

pads, clothes, buckets and tarpaulins.

The minister said that on the

instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the government is fully

committed to help the flood-affected people. He said that this year Bundelkhand

received more than normal rainfall, due to which the water level of the rivers

increased. However, now the situation is under control and water is expected to

recede from most areas in the next 48 hours.

The government had already made

preparations in view of the possibility of floods. Relief camps, schools and

panchayat buildings in the affected villages have been marked as temporary

shelters, where food, drinking water and medical facilities have been provided.

Health department teams are working continuously to prevent diarrhea, dengue

and other waterborne diseases. Fodder and veterinary services have also been

ensured for the safety of livestock.

District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Pandey

said that the administration is delivering relief material to all the affected areas;

in some villages it has become necessary to deliver assistance through boats.

He said that the process of rehabilitation and compensation of flood victims

has also been started. Special plans are being made for those families who were

living in ancestral homes despite getting housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas

Yojana and are now affected by the flood.
