Guwahati (Assam), 03 August (HS): Police have arrested the main accused in the brutal murder case that occurred in the Vashishtha police station area of Guwahati. The incident took place on July 25, and the accused, Fidaling Dhar, was arrested following a police raid in Jowai, Meghalaya.

DCP Mrinal Deka confirmed the arrest and stated that Dhar had been absconding since the crime. According to Vashishtha police, Fidaling Dhar killed Methio Lindu, a fellow driver and resident of Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, following a dispute that erupted after a drinking session. The incident occurred at Lane No. 5 of Assam Kanta, where Dhar allegedly struck Lindu with a piece of wood, leading to his death.

Both the accused and the victim were drivers by profession. After committing the murder, Dhar fled the scene, prompting a thorough investigation and search operation by the police. His arrest brings a major breakthrough in the case.
