Bijnor, 03 Aug (HS): A 35-year-old woman's mutilated
body was discovered in a field near Afzalgarh in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor
district, police reported on Sunday. While police presume a leopard attacked
her, forest officials believe it was a case of murder, with the corpse later. According
to Afzalgarh Circle Officer Rajesh Solanki, the lady was attacked by a leopard
while collecting cow feed in a field near the town on Saturday evening. Her
body was subsequently discovered brutally disfigured. According to Solanki, the
first clues point to a leopard assault, but more information would be revealed
following the postmortem examination. However, Bijnor Divisional Forest Officer
(DFO) Abhinav Raj refuted the police narrative, stating that the injury marks
and circumstances lead to murder. It looks that there has been a murder. He speculated that some animal may have eaten
some of the body after it died. Police have submitted the deceased for a
postmortem, and additional investigation is underway.
