Imphal, 02 August (HS): In a series of well-coordinated operations across Manipur in last 24 hours security forces apprehended three rebels linked to banned outfit — KCP and PREPAK — who were allegedly involved in extortion, armed attacks, and other criminal activities.

The first arrest took place in Imphal East, where security personnel apprehended Yumkhaibam Ronaldo Meitei (24), a cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Military and Financial Liberation). He was picked up from New Checkon Tribal Colony. Authorities confirmed his alleged involvement in a firing incident targeting a government official’s residence in Imphal West back in March. A mobile phone and Aadhaar card were seized from him.

Simultaneously, in Kakching district, Yumnam Sushintakumar Singh (26), an active member of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), was arrested at Wabagai Mairenbam Leikai. He was found in possession of a 7.65 mm pistol with a loaded magazine, a mobile phone, and an Aadhaar card.

In a separate operation under Sagolmang Police Station, also in Imphal East, forces arrested Lisham Sanayamba Singh (33), a self-styled Lieutenant of PREPAK (Red Army), from his residence in Uyumpok Maning Leikai. His alleged activities extended beyond his outfit, as he was also reportedly extorting funds on behalf of KCP (PWG). Officials recovered five extortion letters on KCP (PWG) letterheads and a mobile phone during the raid.

Despite these developments, the overall security scenario in Manipur remained stable over the last 24 hours. Search operations and area dominion patrols continued in fringe and sensitive zones across various districts.
