Cachar (Assam), 02 August (HS): Acting on a tip-off, Cachar police raided a warehouse in Silchar and seized a consignment of banned Phensidyl cough syrup worth around ₹6 lakh. No arrests have been made so far in connection with the seizure.
According to officials, the operation was carried out late Friday night at a delivery company's warehouse. During the raid, police recovered 400 bottles of Phensidyl (100 ml each) packed in two cartons. The seizure was made in the presence of independent witnesses, following all legal procedures.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the consignment had been sent from Muzaffarpur in Bihar and was intended to be transported to Agartala, the capital of Tripura. Authorities have launched a probe to identify and nab those involved in the illegal trade.
