Udalguri, 02 August (HS): Reaffirming BJP's go-it-alone strategy for the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) elections, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday declared that the party would not forge any alliance and is preparing to contest all 40 constituencies.

Speaking to media at the Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Mudaibari, Udalguri, Dr. Sarma stressed the BJP’s self-reliant approach, stating, “This time, we are going solo in BTR. No alliances, no adjustments. Our candidates will contest every single seat.”

Highlighting the peace restored in the BTR over the last five years, the Chief Minister set the tone for the next phase: “Now, it is time to focus on holistic development.”

He also dismissed any animosity with regional forces, clarifying, “UPPL and BPF are not our enemies. But the BJP is entering this election with full seriousness and without external support.”

Shifting the focus to community dynamics, Dr. Sarma made a fervent appeal for political clarity among locals. “Hindus, Muslims, and Christians must unite to identify their real adversaries. Only then can BTR and Assam truly progress.”

He further underscored the importance of inclusive governance: “Every community in BTR must feel like a first-class citizen—with equal rights, opportunities, and access to state resources.”

On the developmental front, Dr. Sarma announced the construction of a ₹33-crore government college at Kalaigaon. He also revealed that the state government is actively considering the establishment of an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in the region over the next five years—reflecting the government’s ambition to transform BTR into an academic and infrastructural hub.
