Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presented a unique artwork made of GI registered
Banaras Metal Reponisi Craft to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who arrived in
Kashi on Saturday in the month of Shravan. This craft was a wonderful
combination of three GI crafts of Kashi, which include Metal Reponisi Craft,
Meenakari and Metal Casting Craft.
GI expert
Padmashree Dr. Rajni Kant said that this special gift includes an 18 inch high
and 15 inch wide artwork decorated on a Meenakari stool. It contains Shivling
in Argha, a five hooded snake, Nandi, Prasad, Ganga water in a Kalash, Trishul
and sandalwood ash. This work was prepared by metal craftsmen Anil Kasera,
Raghunath Kasera and Meenakari artist Arun Kumar Verma on the theme of Shravan
month after a week of continuous effort and under the guidance of GI experts.
According to Dr. Rajni Kant, this artwork reflects the rich craft tradition of
Kashi and the power of GI. On this occasion, the Prime Minister called for
'Swadeshi and Local to Global' to encourage weavers and craftsmen including
Kashi's silk and Bhadohi carpet. He described GI as a legally local identity
and gave the message of taking concrete steps for its protection and promotion.
The artisan community expressed happiness over this honor.
