New Delhi, August 17(HS): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the National Democratic Alliance’s nomination of Thiru CP Radhakrishnan for the post of Vice President, describing the move as a testament to the coalition’s commitment to experienced leadership and grassroots empowerment.
Announcing the NDA’s decision in a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi offered an effusive endorsement of Radhakrishnan’s credentials. “In his long years in public life, Thiru CP Radhakrishnan Ji has distinguished himself with his dedication, humility and intellect. During the various positions he has held, he has always focused on community service and empowering the marginalised. He has done extensive work at the grassroots in Tamil Nadu. I am glad that the NDA family has decided to nominate him as the Vice Presidential candidate of our alliance,” PM Modi wrote.
The Prime Minister further remarked on Radhakrishnan’s substantial portfolio, highlighting his tenure as a Member of Parliament and as Governor across multiple Indian states. “His Parliamentary interventions were always incisive. During his gubernatorial tenures, he focused on addressing challenges faced by common citizens. These experiences ensured that he has vast knowledge of legislative and Constitutional matters. I am confident he will be an inspiring Vice President,” he added.
The NDA’s selection signals its intent to elevate a candidate seasoned in governance and socially attuned leadership. Radhakrishnan, a veteran statesman from Tamil Nadu, is widely recognized for his work with underprivileged communities and his pragmatic solutions within legislative and administrative circles. His nomination is expected to strike a chord with both lawmakers and civil society, underscoring the alliance’s dedication to inclusive progress.
If elected, Radhakrishnan would bring to the office decades of experience and a reputation for bridging the divide between policy and the people it serves. The announcement comes as the nation prepares for the Vice Presidential election, with observers seeing this move as both strategic and emblematic of the NDA’s vision for India's future.
