Gaya, August 18 (HS): The Congress party’s ambitious ‘Voter Rights Yatra’ entered its second day on Monday as Rahul Gandhi, along with senior party leaders, continued outreach from Aurangabad’s Kutumba to Gaya, intensifying the campaign against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
The day began at 8:00 a.m. from Kutumba (Dev Road, Aurangabad). By 9:30 a.m., the leaders reached the renowned Dev Sun Temple, where Rahul Gandhi offered prayers to Lord Bhaskar (Surya Dev). At 11:30 a.m., the yatra paused at Rahatganj Block Road for Gandhi to interact directly with local citizens.
The march then wound through Tehlara, Patalganga, Dev Bypass Road, Purana Thana Mor, before returning to the Surya Mandir route. From there, the cavalcade followed the Grand Trunk Road (NH-2) via Shivganj up to War Bazaar. Crossing Aurangabad district, the leaders entered Gaya at Dabur and Guraru, halting at Dabur for lunch and brief rest.
By 4:00 p.m., the yatra moved further through Bagdiha Mor, Ahiyapur Mor, and onto the Daudnagar–Gaya Road, touching Panchanpur, Kewali, and the Delhi Overbridge. At around 6:30 p.m., the journey culminated at Khalees Park, Gaya, where Rahul Gandhi addressed a public gathering for nearly an hour.
For the night halt, the leaders headed to Rasalpur Cricket Ground via the Bypass Road from Khalees Park, marking the end of a packed second day of this statewide outreach initiative.
The ‘Voter Rights Yatra’, launched by Rahul Gandhi from Sasaram on Sunday, aims to build mass awareness against the alleged discrepancies in voter registration and revision exercises under SIR, while strengthening Congress’s ground connect ahead of upcoming elections.
