Dharmendra Pradhan calls upon IIT Delhi students to drive innovation for Atmanirbhar Bharat


New Delhi, August 17 (HS): Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, today called upon students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi to spearhead innovation and drive India’s journey towards Atmanirbhar Bharat. The Minister was on a campus visit, where he held wide-ranging interactions with undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students, as well as innovators and researchers.

Accompanied by Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Dr. Vineet Joshi, and IIT Delhi Director, Prof. Rangan Bannerjee, along with senior officials of the Ministry of Education, Pradhan reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day message that emphasized India’s path to self-reliance and progress towards a Samridhh Bharat by 2047.

The Minister urged students to leverage their talent, energy, and ingenuity to address the technological challenges facing the nation. He emphasized that India’s young innovators must consistently push boundaries, ideate boldly, and work untiringly until the vision of complete self-reliance is achieved.

Pradhan assured students of the Government’s unwavering support, stating that “India’s youth, with their talent and tenacity, are destined to rewrite the rules of technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Their pursuits will not only enhance the nation’s technological and economic sovereignty but also position India as a global hub of solutions.”

He highlighted IITs as the cornerstone of India’s innovation ecosystem, calling them critical drivers in fostering technological leadership and nation-building. He announced his intention to revisit the institution in the near future to review the innovations currently in development by the students.

Reinforcing this vision, Dr. Vineet Joshi underscored the vital role of higher education institutions in nurturing next-generation solutions of global relevance. He reaffirmed the Department of Higher Education’s commitment to providing every possible support to strengthen research capacity, foster innovation, and meet national challenges aligned with Atmanirbhar Bharat.

With the convergence of visionary leadership, government backing, and the resilience of young minds, the Minister asserted, India is firmly on the path to redefining its future—technologically empowered, economically robust, and globally self-reliant.
