New Delhi, August 16 (HS): India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will embark on a two-day official visit to Nepal from August 17 to 18 at the invitation of his Nepali counterpart, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai.
Announcing the visit on Saturday, India’s Ministry of External Affairs underscored the “close and friendly ties” that New Delhi and Kathmandu share—relations that have grown stronger in recent years through enhanced cooperation across multiple sectors.
The ministry highlighted that India attaches “special significance” to its partnership with Nepal under the framework of its Neighborhood First policy. Misri’s visit, it said, will not only continue the tradition of regular high-level exchanges but will also serve as an important opportunity to further consolidate the deep-rooted bilateral relationship.
Observers emphasize that the timing of the visit reflects the steady progress in India-Nepal engagement and signals continuity in dialogue on issues of mutual interest, ranging from developmental cooperation to regional stability.
