New Delhi, August 15(HS):

Prime Minister Narendra Modi swiftly responded to the unfolding crisis in Jammu & Kashmir, reaching out to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the aftermath of a devastating cloudburst and subsequent flooding in the Kishtwar region.

Catastrophic Cloudburst Ravages Kishtwar

Early reports indicate a sudden, ferocious cloudburst struck the mountainous district of Kishtwar, triggering flash floods that swept through villages, inundating homes and sweeping away vehicles and livestock. Torrents of muddy water carved a path of destruction, stranding residents and cutting off vital roadways—a natural calamity that left emergency crews racing against time.

PM Modi Mobilizes Relief Efforts

Expressing his concern on social platform X, the Prime Minister assured the nation:

Spoke to Jammu and Kashmir LG, Shri Manoj Sinha Ji and CM Shri Omar Abdullah Ji regarding the situation in the wake of the cloudburst and flooding in Kishtwar. Authorities are working on the ground to assist those affected.

Modi’s outreach comes as rescue operations intensify, with state authorities deploying disaster response forces, medical teams, and relief supplies to battle the aftermath.

Coordination and Aid

Officials are working on multiple fronts—evacuating those trapped, restoring communications, and providing medical assistance to the injured. Relief camps have been set up and urgent measures are underway to secure vulnerable areas against further flooding. The Prime Minister’s hands-on approach underscores the Centre’s commitment to support J&K through this ordeal.

The disaster has jolted communities across Kishtwar, with local leaders pledging full support. As images of flooded streets and battered homes spread across social media, solidarity and offers of aid have poured in nationwide. The government’s coordinated response aims to deliver swift relief and hope to those caught in nature’s fury, promising that no one will be left behind in this hour of need.
