On June 8, 2024, Renukaswamy of Chitradurga was kidnapped, assaulted, and murdered, and Darshan was arrested on June 11. After being in jail for several months, he was released on interim bail on October 30 due to back pain. The High Court granted him regular bail on December 13.
The Karnataka government had challenged this verdict in the Supreme Court. After hearing the case, the court, which had reserved its verdict on July 24, cancelled the bail today. This has created a situation where Darshan and others will go to jail.
