Los Angeles, 13 August (H.S.): In a dramatic twist to Hollywood’s summer, Los Angeles police have arrested four teenagers accused of masterminding a high-tech burglary spree that left Brad Pitt’s Los Feliz home ransacked.
The suspects — two 18-year-olds, a 17-year-old, and a 16-year-old — are alleged street gang members tied to a string of break-ins targeting elite actors and professional athletes, including Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Dodgers’ star pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and ex-LAFC striker Olivier Giroud.
The Pitt burglary, which occurred while the Oscar-winning actor was promoting his upcoming film F1, saw masked intruders scale perimeter fencing, smash through a window, and escape with stolen goods. Police later recovered items from the suspects’ homes.
Investigators revealed the crew used sophisticated tactics — covertly planting hidden surveillance cameras near victims’ residences to track movements, and deploying wi-fi jammers to cripple home security systems.
Authorities warn that public appearances, sports schedules, and travel snapshots on social media remain a goldmine for would-be burglars. As LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell put it: “In sharing our lives online, we may also be handing criminals a roadmap straight to our doors.”
