Budapest, August 1 (H.S.): Max Verstappen has confirmed he will remain with Red Bull for next season, dispelling rumors linking him to Mercedes. Ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Verstappen stated, “It’s time to put an end to the rumors” and emphasized the ongoing discussions about car performance within the team, which he claimed would cease if he intended to leave.
Next year will bring significant changes in engine regulations, with Mercedes expected to be a frontrunner while Red Bull develops its new power unit, separate from Honda. Despite a break clause in his contract, it remains unactivated, as he currently sits third in the standings with two wins this season. His deal extends to 2028, and recent team management changes aim to keep him at Red Bull.
Meanwhile, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff hinted at keeping the current driver lineup, while George Russell reiterated his commitment to Mercedes, stating there’s no rush regarding contract discussions, which will happen after the August break. Russell emphasized a focus on improving team performance over contractual matters.
