Delhi, 31 July (H.S.): Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh has been appointed as the Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) of the Indian Army, effective from August 1. He succeeds Lt. General N.S. Raja Subramani, who held the position since July 1 last year. With over 35 years of distinguished service, Singh's leadership is highlighted by his commission into the 4 Para Special Forces in 1987 and participation in operations like Pawan, Meghdoot, Rakshak, and Orchid.

He has international experience, serving in UN Peacekeeping Missions in Lebanon and Sri Lanka. Recognized with the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and two Sena Medals, Singh has served as the General Officer Commanding of the Rising Star Corps since April 2022 and is an alumnus of the Indian Military Academy.
