New Delhi, July 24(HS): Mohun Bagan has signed Indian player Abhishek Singh Tekcham from Punjab FC on a four-year contract for the upcoming season. Abhishek chose Mohun Bagan, citing it as the number 1 club in the country, expressing his dream to win titles in their jersey. Despite winning the I-League with Punjab, he aims to secure the ISL and Shield with Mohun Bagan. He values the opportunity to train and play with top Indian football stars.
Abhishek's ambition includes representing India in the AFC Championship. Mohun Bagan, having won the ISL Shield and Cup last season, is looking to fill the left wing-back position after parting ways with Ashik Kuruniyan; Abhishek could fill this role or compete on the right flank against Ashish Rai.
In the 2024-25 ISL season, he played 22 matches as a full-back, creating eight chances and excelling in both offensive and defensive metrics. His strong performances earned him a spot on the senior national team, where he debuted against the Maldives and played in two international matches in June.
