London, July 25(HS): Arsenal has officially signed defender Christian Mosquera from Valencia for an initial fee of around £13 million, potentially rising with performance-related add-ons. The 21-year-old, who has joined on a five-year contract with an extra year option, is the fifth signing of the summer. This brings Arsenal's total expenditure this transfer window to approximately £140 million.

Mosquera, who can play in multiple defensive positions, featured in 41 matches for Valencia last season and is now with Arsenal for their pre-season tour in Asia. The club aims to acquire striker Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting Lisbon as well.
