Lucknow/Saharanpur,
23 July (HS): Imran Masood, a Congress MP, has expressed reservations about the
Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, criticizing its quick implementation. Masood said, What kind of formula or
technique do they have that they can complete this in just one month? This creates concerns. They want to deny tribals, Dalits, backwards
classes, and Muslims of their voting rights by erasing their names from voter
rolls.” Masood went on to accuse certain elements of wanting to destroy
democracy, saying, They want to steer the country toward a system in
which 10% of the population rules and 90% are reduced to slaves. We shall battle
till the end to save democracy.” The Congress MP's comments came amid ongoing
disagreements over the SIR process, with opposition parties accusing anomalies
in voter list changes.
