Bhubaneswar, 23 July (H.S.) The Odisha government has approved the formation of two additional battalions under the Odisha Industrial Security Force (OISF) to enhance security at industrial and strategically important locations across the state. Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has given the green light to the proposal, which includes the creation of 2,080 new posts.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, out of the 2,080 newly sanctioned posts, 1,944 will be regular appointments, while the remaining 136 positions will be filled through outsourcing.
Until now, the OISF operated with a single battalion comprising 1,807 posts. Earlier this year in April, the Chief Minister had approved the formation of a second battalion, bringing the total number of posts to 2,847. With the formation of the third and fourth battalions, the total number of sanctioned positions within the OISF will now increase to 4,927.
The decision comes at a time when the state government is placing strong emphasis on industrial development. The successful organization of Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha 2025 has accelerated the pace of industrialization, creating vast opportunities for investment and infrastructure expansion.
In view of these developments, the need to strengthen security for industrial establishments and key commercial zones has become imperative. Recognizing this requirement, Chief Minister Majhi has approved the establishment of two more OISF battalions to ensure enhanced safety and support for Odisha’s growing industrial ecosystem.
