Maj Gen Vivek Tyagi Conducts Administrative Inspection at NCC Air Training Institute, Behala; Emphasizes Drone Training and Technical Excellence

Major General Vivek Tyagi, Additional Director General of NCC Directorate (West Bengal & Sikkim), conducted an administrative inspection of the NCC Air Training Institute (NITINS) at Behala Airfield in Kolkata on Sunday. He was received with military honours by Colonel Suresh Bhaik, Deputy Group Commander, Kolkata 'B' Group Headquarters.

During the inspection, Maj Gen Tyagi reviewed the ongoing flying operations conducted for Air Wing cadets and reaffirmed the Directorate’s commitment to providing high-quality aviation and technical training. A key highlight of the visit was the felicitation of staff and cadets who had successfully participated in the Directorate’s inaugural Drone Training Capsule conducted by its Drone Training School.

Demonstrating his keen interest in operational capabilities, Maj Gen Tyagi undertook a sortie in a Virus SW-80 Microlight aircraft alongside an NCC Air Squadron. He commended the squadron’s adherence to aerospace safety standards and their exceptional flying proficiency despite limited resources. Interacting with the permanent instructional and technical staff, he praised their professionalism and dedication.

At the valedictory session of Drone Capsule-1, the ADG honoured PI staff and ground cadet instructors who had qualified as certified drone trainers. He noted that these trainers are pivotal to shaping the future of drone education within NCC. He also reviewed infrastructure expansion plans and resource acquisition strategies, reiterating the Directorate’s vision to develop the institute as a centre of excellence for drone training in the country.

Addressing the 75 cadets who participated in the capsule, Maj Gen Tyagi lauded their enthusiasm and encouraged them to embrace emerging technologies to contribute meaningfully to national progress. He underscored the importance of technical competence among youth and urged cadets to remain inquisitive and future-ready.

Concluding his visit, Maj Gen Tyagi outlined the Directorate’s upcoming initiatives and called upon all staff and cadets to renew their commitment to national service and uphold the core values of the NCC.
