Kanpur,
23 July (HS): Former President Ram Nath Kovind reached the ancient Anandeshwar
Shiva temple in Kanpur on Wednesday. He prayed for the welfare of the country
and the people by offering prayers to Lord Shiva on the occasion of Shivratri
in the month of Shravan. Former President Ram Nath Kovind arrived at ancient
Shiv temple Baba Anandeshwar situated in Kanpur, Baba was worshipped by
performing Jalabhishek with full rituals and Maa Ganga Aarti was performed.
Remembering his old days here, Kovind prayed to Baba Anandeshwar for the
welfare of the whole world.
Former
President Ramnath Kovind is on a four-day visit to Kanpur from July 20 to 23.
He reached Kanpur by plane from Delhi on Sunday. He attended some private
programs on Monday and Tuesday and on Wednesday, amid heavy security, he
visited Baba Anandeshwar temple in Paramat to have darshan of Lord Shiva.
During this, he did Jalabhishek of Baba with full rituals and performed Puja
and Aarti of Maa Ganga. After the Puja, Kovind spoke to the journalists.
While
speaking he said that today in the holy month of Shravan I got the privilege of
visiting the ancient Shiv temple Baba Anandeshwar. This place is sacred for me.
While studying in DAV hostel in Kanpur, I used to visit Anandeshwar temple
daily to have darshan of Baba. I pray to Lord Shiva to bless everyone.
Former
President Kovind said that he has a very deep connection with Kanpur. While
studying here, he lived in DAV hostel in Civil Lines and used to visit Baba
daily. Sharing his experience, he said that during this month of Shravan, the
waves of Maa Ganga themselves used to come to the temple premises to bow their
heads at the feet of Baba seated in the temple. He said that the land of Kanpur
has given him a lot. That is why this land is very sacred for him. He said that
his heart is elated after getting Baba's darshan. He wishes Baba to do good not
only for this city but for the whole world, because it is believed that just by
visiting this temple, people's wishes are definitely fulfilled.
On
this occasion, Kanpur Mayor Pramila Pandey and MLA Surendra Maithani were also
present along with former President Ram Nath Kovind. Today is the last day of
former President Ram Nath Kovind's stay in Kanpur. He left for New Delhi by
plane from Chakeri Airport.
