Chennai, 23 July (H.S.): A heartbreaking incident unfolded in a hotel in Alandur early Monday morning, where a 38-year-old man named Sathish slit the throat of his seven-year-old daughter, Stephy Rose, killing her, and then attempted to take his own life by slitting his throat. Police have registered a murder case against Sathish.

According to information, Sathish had checked into the hotel with Stephy on Sunday night after an ongoing marital dispute and argument with his wife, Rebecca. Rebecca had previously filed a complaint against Sathish for physical and verbal abuse.

Police reported that early on Monday, Sathish called his sister, Gethsiyal, to inform her about the murder of his daughter and his intention to commit suicide. Gethsiyal rushed to the hotel, where she found Stephy deceased and Sathish lying in a pool of blood.

Sathish was immediately taken to Royapettah Government Hospital for treatment. He was arrested on Wednesday after his health improved. Further legal action in this case is ongoing.
