South 24 Parganas, 23 July (H.S.) A major road accident took place early Wednesday morning in Kakdwip area of South 24 Parganas district when a passenger bus collided head-on with a truck, leaving at least 10 passengers seriously injured. The front part of both vehicles were mangled in the crash.

As per information, the passenger bus was travelling from Gangadharpur towards Kolkata when the collision occurred. It caused several passengers to be thrown inside the bus. Local residents rushed to the scene upon hearing the crash and immediately began rescue work.

On information the police arrived at the spot and launched an operation to evacuate the injured. At least 10 people were rescued in critical condition and rushed to Kakdwip Hospital.

The accident led to a temporary blockage of the national highway in the area. Authorities were able to bring the situation under control after some time, and both vehicles were removed with the help of cranes.
