Karbi Anglong (Assam), 23 July (HS): People were curious to see a long queue of Tata DI vehicles in Bokajan of Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday morning. A large number of people were seen in Bokajan early in the morning with their household goods.

According to official sources, the administration is going to launch an eviction drive in the Vidyapur and Uriyamghat of Golaghat district. In view of this, people living illegally in the above two areas vacated the area and reached Bokajan before being evicted by the administration. People who reached Bokajan were seen carrying their cattle along with household goods in DI vehicles.

Meanwhile, interrogation conducted by Khatkhati police revealed that all the people are going towards various areas of Nagon district, such as Dhing, Juria, Moirabari etc. Due to the promptness of the police, everyone left for their destination from Bokajan early in the morning.

It is worth mentioning that due to the eviction drive being run by the administration in the entire state, a situation of panic has arisen among the people of this particular community who have come from different places and have illegally occupied government land in Vidyapur, Negheribil, Uriyamghat of Golaghat district.
