Delhi, 23 July (H.S.): The MHA's Gazette Notification S.O.3354(E) dated July 22, 2025, has confirmed Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation as Vice President of India. The Election Commission of India, under Article 324, is responsible for conducting the Vice Presidential election, governed by The Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections Act, 1952, and the rules from The Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections Rules, 1974.

Preparations for the 2025 election have commenced, including the creation of the Electoral College comprising elected and nominated Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha members, the finalization of Returning Officers, and the preparation of background materials on prior Vice Presidential Elections.
