Hooghly, 23 July (H.S.): The Bharatiya Janata Party protested at Aakhna Panchayat, alleging corruption in roadworks, drainage systems, and public welfare schemes on Wednesday at 3 PM.

Led by BJP Mandal Subir Ghosh, the rally proceeded to the Panchayat office, but police from Polba Police Station attempted to intervene, resulting in a scuffle. Following intervention by senior police officers, an eight-member BJP delegation was permitted to meet the Panchayat head and present their grievances. BJP General Secretary Suresh Shaw warned of intensified agitation if issues remain unaddressed.
