Guwahati, 22 July (HS): The Hatigaon police station team of Guwahati conducted a drive in Datalpara Gandhi Path area of the capital and seized a large amount of banned heroin.

Police said on Tuesday that Hatigaon police seized 28 containers filled with heroin during the drive. With drugs, two peddlers named Kasem Ali and Phoolchand Ali of Dhubri were also arrested.

It has come to light that both the peddlers were running the heroin business while living in a rented house. During interrogation, it was found that the heroin was brought from Silchar, the headquarters of the Cachar district.

The weight of the seized drugs is said to be around 340 grams, which is worth about ₹3 to 4 crore in the international market, the police has informed. Hatigaon police investigation is going on in connection with the incident.
