Chirang (Assam), 22 July (HS): Six vehicles collided in a major road accident on National Highway-27 in Kashikotra area of Chirang district on Tuesday. One person killed in the accident and several others were seriously injured. The accident started with an oil tanker, which hit five other vehicles.

The other vehicles hit by the oil tanker (AS 01 DJ 6358) include two four-wheelers (AS 02 AN 8996, AS 01 EW 4838) and a passenger vehicle (AS 26C 7307). The passenger vehicle left the road and fell into a ditch due to the impact of the accident. One vehicle (AS 02 AN 8996) was also seriously damaged.

A youth from Basugaon, Namit Goyari, killed on the spot in the accident. Her sister Ritu Goyari was seriously injured and has been admitted to the hospital.

Several other people were also injured in the accident and are undergoing treatment. Police reached the spot and started rescue work and investigation is on.
