New Delhi, July 22 (H.S.): Air India successfully completed precautionary inspections of the fuel control switch (FCH) locking mechanism for its Boeing 787 and 737 aircraft, with no issues identified. The airline began these voluntary inspections on July 12, adhering to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) directives issued on July 14, 2025. The inspections concluded within the deadline set by the regulator. Air India affirmed its commitment to passenger and crew safety, noting that the Boeing 737s serve in the fleet of its low-cost subsidiary, Air India Express.

The DGCA's instructions for inspecting these locking systems followed a preliminary report from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) related to a tragic incident near Ahmedabad last month, resulting in 260 fatalities. Air India's compliance underscores the airline's dedication to stringent safety measures in response to regulatory guidance.
