Dehradun, July 2(HS): A truck overturned on Rishikesh-Gangotri Highway on Wednesday morning, killing three Kanwariyas and injuring 16, with five critically referred to AIIMS Rishikesh.

All the Kanwariyas are residents of Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, and were traveling to Harsil for a Bhandara.The accident occurred when the truck (number UP-13-BT-8739) lost control and overturned near Tachhila, ahead of Fakot. A total of 19 passengers were aboard the vehicle.As soon as the incident was reported, police and SDRF teams reached the site, extricated the injured from the truck, and admitted them to hospitals in Fakot and Narendra Nagar.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow over the accident and directed to expedite relief and rescue operations and provide all possible treatment to the injured.Tehri's District Magistrate announced a war-level rescue operation, swiftly transporting all injured to the hospital, with police and SDRF successfully extricating everyone at the accident site.

Five injured individuals were sent to AIIMS Rishikesh, while others were admitted to the sub-district hospital in Narendra Nagar.Station Head Narendra Nagar Sanjay Mishra informed that the accident occurred near Tachhala between Fakot and Jajal. Upon receiving the information, the police commenced the rescue operation.

09- Jugnu, son of Devi Singh, age 35

10- Tushar, son of Sunil Prajapati, age 17

11- Bhajan Lal, son of Babu Lal, age 45

12- Lekhraj, son of Gopi Singh, age 40

13- Tinku, son of Rudraprakash, age 29

14- Moolchand, son of Lakshman, age 40

15- Rahul, son of Kinchit, age 28

16- Nakul, son of Rahul, age 4

These are the total 16 injured individuals currently receiving treatment.

Identification of the deceased:

-Vicky, son of Mahendra, age 30

-Sunil Saini, son of Moolchand, age 45

The identification process for the third deceased is ongoing.
