New Delhi, July 2(HS): The Supreme Court is set to hear the Uddhav Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena's petition against the Election Commission's decision on July 14, led by Justice MM Sundresh. The Thackeray faction contests the Commission's February 17 ruling that recognized the Eknath Shinde faction as the real Shiv Sena and allocated it the bow-and-arrow symbol.
The Commission deemed the current constitution of Shiv Sena undemocratic, citing the secret reintroduction of undemocratic methods akin to private property, which were previously rejected in 1999. The Thackeray faction seeks to challenge this order since the bow-and-arrow symbol has historical significance dating back to Bal Thackeray's era.
